I used to own a medical marijuana dispensary and a cultivation facility. It sold for retirement, but I still grow medical marijuana at my house.
I’m a soil farmer and I make my own mix. I’m a fan of ‘FoxFarm’ Ocean Forest blend. I use this as 50% of my mix.
Organic strains of medical marijuana
I had as many as fifty strains of marijuana growing in one warehouse when I had the grow facility. Some of the strains I write about are oldies but goodies that I have been growing since 2001. My patients still ask for these and the numbers don’t lie, they still keep selling.
They have made me money and here is why.
I knew the marijuana industry was going to see some changes. The first time I did this experiment was in 2010. What I wanted at my dispensary was a close to organic product for the future. I use liquid nutrients, but for the experiment I only used treated water.
Forty white rhinos, two feet in height in vegetation, with the usual bomb recipe for the liquid nutrients. Of the forty white rhinos I cut three healthy plants from the herd and mark them with plastic red ribbon. These three plants will only get treated water and their outcome at harvest will be from the elements of good light, water, and superior genetics.
Did the final bud product come out the same as the other white rhinos that were fed expensive nutrients?
I did this experiment three times before I switched all forty white rhinos over to treated water.
These are some other strains that I have done trial and error experimentation with that proved to be genetically superior to others:
- big bud
- power plant
- sweet tooth
- head band
- blue berry
- white rhino
- Romulan, Jilly bean and most sour diesel strains
These genetics would be useful to a beginner grower or a pro farmer. Running no liquid nutrients through the plants soil has created a closer to organic product by reducing the amount of toxins that build up from fertilizer.
The need for a one to two week harvest flush has been crossed off the list of things to do.
Cutting costs and labor means being efficient and making a bigger profit. These strains of marijuana keep the industry reputation a little greener.
